Fathers' Weekend?!

So on Mothers' Day,
 I ask to be pampered
and left alone.
I like the quiet.
So what does Paul get for Fathers' Day?
A weekend doing things with the kids...
He took Matthew, Afton and Halle to the water park
(although, those are his feet--that looks rather relaxing)

Hung a rope swing for the kids in our backyard

then pushed the swingers until dark
To reward him,
we got him a firepit and a croquet set for the backyard
so he can spend even more time with the kiddos!
He's a great dad and when it comes to our kids, his motto is
"It's all about them!"
Happy Fathers' Weekend Paul-We Love You!

Happy Father's Day!

I was asked to come up with the "thank you" for fathers at church today.
So I arranged and helped bake 80 mini-loaves of banana bread.
I was also asked to speak in church,
which made me think all week about my dad...

My favorite memories of my dad involve our daddy-daughter dates
We would drive to dinner and the BYU basketball game
Dinner varied, but I always got cinnamon bears
and Sprite at the game
I picked out cinnamon bears because I knew my dad liked them too.
I think about this now because that was a significant experience growing up
to know my dad liked to spend time with me
I am sure I talked on and on about nothing and everything
and my dad just listened.
Thanks for being a great dad--I love you!

And now he's an awesome Grandpa...

He changes diapers, plays battleship,
picks out a guitar book for Afton
and sincerely enjoys playing with them.
The kids are looking forward to spending time with Grandpa-
feeding his fish, going to the golf course,
and of course, more battleship!
We hope you have a wonderful day!
(you can rest up for our visit!)

Happy Fathers' Day!

Happy Father's Day!
We have so many great dads in our life--
Thank you Steve, Pat, Van, Grandpa Bunting and Grandpa Johannesen!
It is wonderful to have so much love and support for our family.
But since this is my blog, I wanted to focus one one dad in particular--
-This is my dad with me and the kids-
My dad has always been very supportive of me and encourages me
to be good to myself and makes sure that I'm taken care of!
When Paul and I were first married, we were very poor-
that Christmas my dad slipped me some money to spend on myself, just for fun.
When I decided to go back to school and get my masters degree, my dad said go for it!
When we go to Utah, my dad babysits and plays with the kids so I can have a break.
Dad--thanks for being a great dad to me and a great grandpa to my kids!
I love you and hope you have a great day!

A Good Day for a Great Dad!

We think Paul had a good day...
First,we woke him up to serve him one of his favorite breakfasts, his mom's famous cinnamon rolls! (I should remind people that we have early church and I had to get up extra early so they would be warm and tasty right from the oven--aren't I a good wife?) Paul looks tired, doesn't he--he spent all day Friday and Saturday doing Youth Conference and then a service project!
Second, we let him watch the U.S. Open--with the kids, of course.
Third, he got to pick dinner and dessert. And, he has these cute kiddies to play with all day long!
Paul is a great dad and we are so grateful for all he does for our family! Happy Father's Day!

Happy Fathers' Day!

I just read two articles in the Wall Street Journal that lent themselves to the argument of having a good father---one who disciplines, loves, is involved, and also teaches the lessons of life. Paul and I have both been blessed to have fathers who do all of this. Because of them, we have been successful and are able to pass what we have learned to our children. Our fathers were blessed to have fathers who did the same. How grateful we are for the influence of good men in our lives and for the benefit it will be to our children. Happy Fathers' Day to the great men in our life!

(Grandpa Johannesen)

We also have men who stepped into our lives at a later time who encourage and support our family and for that we are also very thankful! Happy Fathers' Day Pat & Van!
