Spring Break

We headed south to Nashville for some warm weather
It was fun to get away for a few days...
We had fun at the zoo and science center

Halle spent all morning looking for the elephants
We also spent a lot of time swimming.
The kids were up early every morning to hit the pool before heading out
On our way back home, we stopped at Mammoth Caves National Park

It wasn't a planned stop, but just happened to be on our route.
It was really awesome--I had no idea what was just off the freeway!

We hiked down 1/2 mile to the entrance of the cave

We just went on one tour and thought it was cool.
Then we saw a map and realized we'd been in about 1% of the caves
Mammoth Caves is the biggest underground cave system in the world
We highly recommend visiting if you're in the area

It was a fun few days and we had a lot of fun together.
Even the 16 hours of driving wasn't so bad.
(Thank heaven for DVD in the car!)

Looks like fun! (I don't know if I could handle that much time in the car, though...)

Finally, someone else who has been to Mammoth Cave on Spring Break! I bet the kids loved it. We were teenagers when we went so we were kind of bitter about not being in Florida ;) Looks like you had fun!

Road trips with kids (though painful at times) are the stuff childhood memories are made of. Good for you guys!
