Since I've been doing this blog for 3 years now and have done the same ol' thing for everyone's birthday, I'm going to do it a little different this year. I will still be giving a "shout-out" for the birthday, but I also want to write down my favorite memory of that person. We feel somewhat removed from our family members for birthdays since we're so far from everyone--I just want you to know we are thinking of you on your day!

Pat is married to Paul's mom and I first met him when Paul and I had been dating about 6 weeks. Gail and Pat were helping her sister move and were therefore driving through Provo and asked if they could take us out to dinner. We had a great time and when we left the restaurant, Pat gave me a big hug and asked when I'd be heading up to Washington to see them. (He must have known big things were in store for me and Paul) I so much appreciated the welcome he gave me and his sincere interest in me!
