Jane for the Day...

Masterpiece continues to show the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice. Last night was part two of three and I convinced Paul to watch the last half hour with me. (I do own the movie, but there's something about watching a favorite movie that's actually on the television!) So here's the quote that introduces Mr. Darcy and his "first impression" of Elizabeth Bennett. (You "Jane" fans will understand the "first impressions" thing!)

"'She is tolerable; but not handsome enough to tempt me; and I am in no humour at present to give consequence to young ladies who are slighted by other men.'"

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have liked Mr. Darcy I had overheard him say this about me!

Ah yes, but could you have withstood falling in love with him when you saw his beloved Pemberly? Me either.

I watched it last night, too. He is so delicious when he dives into the pond with his shirt kind of open. Sexy. Repressed sexy, but still sexy.

yes...so true about not wanting to like him later but the charm he shows later can be overlooked. I love that movie...I should probably read the book sometime. I never had to read it in hs.

I always think that is what blind dates are saying about me and that's why I don't go on many second dates!

Ah, Mr Darcy. What is it about him? I think he liked her from the get-go, but somehow didn't have the confidence to admit it.
