Jen & Dale's baby boy came early!

From Jen: Just wanted to let you know that our little boy decided to arrive a few weeks early! He was born on Sunday, September 23rd at 9:30 pm. He weighed 6 pounds 10 ounces and was 19 3/4 inches long. His name is Andrew Reed. He ended up coming via an emergency c-section due to some fetal distress. Turns out that his cord was wrapped around his neck and leg, as well as a nice knot in his cord with his foot sticking through the center of the knot! I'd like to know how he did that!? We're just so relieved that he is here, safe and sound. He is a sweet little boy with cute dimples and blonde hair. We are thrilled to finally have this little boy in our lives.

Jane for the Day (a bit late)...

I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of anything than of a book! When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library. --Pride and Prejudice

One month countdown...

So far so good...I have a 7 mile run tomorrow and I'm feeling pretty good about making it through the half-marathon. I'm pretty excited to run, since I'll be running with my sister and her friend, my mom and her friend will be at the finishing line, and another friend is volunteering. Plus, the race is totally geared toward women, from manicures before the race, to pedicures and smoothies afterward. On the race FAQ, under "what should I do after the race?" They have written: Walk around for 15-20 minutes to stretch your body, when the airport metal detector goes off, exclaim, "Oh, that must be my Nike marathon Tiffany finisher's necklace." Start planning your next race. Sleep with your necklace on.--That's right, I get a Tiffany necklace for finishing the race! I also want to thank all of you who have supported me by donating to the Leukemia and Lymphoma society for the race! It means a lot and I'll be thinking of you when I run!

Soccer Report

Matt did awesome--he's a great defender and had a great time playing with his team, the Golden Eagles! Afton enjoyed the snacks and drinks...she cheered from the sidelines but told us she would play next week. We'll see if her brave talk pans out this coming Saturday! (Isn't it funny that their numbers are 7-11! I love when random things like that happen!)

Jane for the Day...

On a few blogs that I read, the author puts a quote or picture of something that inspires her once a week on her blog. I've decided to do a Jane Austen quote on Mondays--a little tidbit to get us through the week with a smile or thought or little truth. Here is the first one, which I think many of us relate to:
"There will be little rubs and disappointments everywhere, and we are all apt to expect too much; but then, if one scheme of happiness fails, human nature turns to another; if the first calculation is wrong, we make a second better: we find comfort somewhere . . . " Mansfield Park
